Ruby Opal Wallace Hook

of Little Rock, AR

September 15, 1912 - February 11, 2006

Ruby Opal Wallace Hook, widow of Reverend Don Hook, of Little Rock, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2006. She was born on September 15, 1912, in Ada, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Oliver S. and Ethel Wallace. Ruby is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ethelene and Ken Moore of Little Rock; two grandsons, Keith and Kyle Moore of Little Rock; four sisters, Neva Caplener, and Lorell Boles of Vacaville, California, Aliene Hodges of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Maxine Wallace of Little Rock; one brother, Opie Wallace, of Merced, California; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ottie Wallace, of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas.

Mrs. Hook was educated in the Pleasant Plains Schools and attended the Ouachita Baptist College. She was a homemaker for many years and was always active in the churches her husband pastored. "Miss Ruby", as she was known by many people, taught Sunday School , sang in the choir, participated in Women's Missionary Union, and assisted Brother Hook when he was director of the Pulaski Baptist Association Crisis Closet. Mrs. Hook also briefly taught school, did substitute teaching, and clerked from time to time in various businesses owned by church members. Mrs. Hook was also an excellent seamstress and often made cloths for family members , church members, and residents of each town in which she lived. Everyone who knew "Miss Ruby" thought of her as a "model" preacher's wife and valuable asset to each church her husband pastored. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hook was also a former employee of the W.T. Grant Company, K Mart, Good Shepard Retirement Center, and Maritz Marketing from which she retired in 1987.

The family is so grateful to God that their loved one is now in heaven, reunited with her husband, and singing in the heavenly choir. How gracious and merciful is the Lord our God! Blessed be the name of the Lord!
