Alene Appleton, 90 of Paris, was born on May 9, 1924 and departed this life on December 7, 2014 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The eldest daughter of William Otis and Alma (Thomas) Gilbert, she was born in Appleton, Arkansas. Mrs. Appleton was the wife of the late James E. "Jim" Appleton. She was a homemaker, retired Dairy Operator and a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She will be most remembered for her caring and great affection for her family.
Mrs. Appleton was preceded in death by her husband Jim Appleton, daughter Diane Green, Son in laws, Stan Forbis and David Green, her parents Otis and Alma Gilbert, a sister, Bobbie Wilson and a brother Dale Gilbert.
She is survived by three daughters, Fran Forbis of Paris, Carolyn Goodson and husband Ralph of Charleston and Debbie Lowe and husband Rick of Paris, ten grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She also is survived by two sisters, Wanda Weeks and Linda Sercomb of Paris and a brother Larry Gilbert of Paris.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Bob Loyd. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Goodson, Rick Lowe, Steve Forbis, Brian Green, Heath Lowe and Logan Needham.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6520 North Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-2130.

I am sadden to hear of the passing of Alene Appleton she was indeed a special lady and she will be missed very much. I worked with her for a time at Pants Factory and she was the sweetest friendly woman i am most reminded of her German Chocolate Cake with Coconut Pecan Frosting and she always made if from Scratch when we had a function she didn't have to be told what to bring she already knew. May God comfort your hearts.
