Mary Elizabeth Jones

Mary Elizabeth Jones, age 84 of Searcy, Arkansas, formerly of Reno, Texas, died Monday in Searcy. She was born May 10, 1920 in Reno, Texas to Sam A. Skidmore and Lanna Mae (Reid) Skidmore. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Blossom and East Paris Elementary School for 20 years. She was a member of the Texas Retirement Association and worked as a volunteer for McCuistion Auxiliary for several years. She was a life-time member of the Church of Christ and an alumnus of Harding University. She married Alvis Jones on December 23, 1944. She is survived by Alvis Jones, her husband of 60 years; one daughter, Lanna Kay Hardgrave and husband David of Carrollton, Texas; one son, Alvis Reid Jones and wife Donna of La Junta, Colorado; five grandchildren, Stephen Reid Jones of La Junta, Colorado, Samuel Mark Jones of La Junta, Colorado, James Bradley Jones and wife Leah of Atlanta, Georgia, Jennifer Lynn Jones of Nashville, Tennessee, Megan Lee Hardgrave of Carrollton, Texas; one great-grandson, Reid Paul Jones of Atlanta, Georgia; and one sister, Ophelia Ann Payne of Reno, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam A. and Lanna Mae Skidmore, and one brother, Edwin Skidmore. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 am Thursday at the College Church of Christ in Searcy. Interment will be at Moore's Spring Cemetery in Reno, Texas.
