Betty Jo Lacy, 88, of Little Rock passed away March 24, 2012. She was born on June 27, 1923 in Hatfield, Arkansas to Emory and Maggie Lacy. She was a graduate of Mountain Pine High School, Ouachita Baptist College and Southwestern Southern Baptist Seminary. She taught school at Lake Hamilton and Bauxite. Her church related career as a minister of youth carried her to Albuquerque, New Mexico, Beaumont, Texas and Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She completed her career in the Women's Missionary Society for the Arkansas Baptist State Convention as Director of GA's. She was a member of South Highland Baptist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Marion, Randolph and Bill; two sisters, Alta Lois Outler and Milree Smith. She is survived by a sister, Imogene Reed of Little Rock; a brother James Lacy and wife Eileen of Hot Springs; a sister-in-law, Connie Lacy; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Harvey's Chapel Baptist Church near Mountain Pine. Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

She was an excellent teacher, and made a difference in my life.

I have fond memories of Aunt Betty Jo visiting us in Albuquerque and heading up all the family reunions when we made it back to Arkansas. I also remember her carrying around her dog at those reunions as she kept all of us in line. : ) Loved her sense of humor and that Lacy twinkle in her eyes.
