Frances Ellen "Fritzy" Sledge, age 81, resident of Alexander, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012.
She was born June 28, 1930 in Vimy Ridge, Arkansas to the late Ernest Spann and Bobbie Mae Mann Spann.
Mrs. Sledge was valedictorian of her high school class at the old Vimy Ridge School. She was a member of the Vimy Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Gene Sledge and Tony Sledge, four sisters, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Sledge of Alexander; three sons, Danny Sledge and wife Vaunda of El Paso, Arkansas, Andy Sledge and wife Quaye of Bryant, and Tim Sledge and girlfriend Monica of Mablevale; three daughters, Judy McCanless and husband Mike of Mabelvale, Jeanette Spears and husband Roger of Alexander, and Cindy Wheeler and husband Terry of Bryant; one brother, Conrad Spann of Romance, Arkansas; 23 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (315-4047).
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Vimy Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, with Brother Dennis Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery in Sardis.

my deepest sympathy for ya'lls time of sorrow . i have some favorite memories i've been thinking of the past few days.uncle bill, do you remember when yall lived downstairs at granny and grandpa's? i loved talking to her and listening to her.yall had the neatest home-always interesting and busy. i really enjoyed the note after aunt hootie passed. i thank the Lord for the precious memories. i pray for yall to have God's comfort and peace. love to you all.
