When I was a child my family would visit the Griffing family in Winnsboro La. Our fathers were in the Army together in WWII. We had the best time! They were so much fun. I've often wondered what happened to them. I am now 65 years old and am going to Winnsboro next week and wondered if any of the 3 girls resided there. So I "googled" Alcina Griffing (unusual name) and found this obituary. Alcina, you are so fortunate to have had your mother for so long and, from the postings, she still had her "mind". Just wanted to let you know what an impression your family made on me so many years ago. I'm so sorry to see that Pam and Barbara are gone as well.

Mrs Griffing was the roommate of my grandmother, Nettie Flowers, at The Ozark Nursing Center. She was a sweet lady and I will miss seeing her. Condolences from the Flowers family.

When I met Memaw for the first time 12 years ago, I loved her in an instant. Her grandson had brought me over to meet his mom,Pam, but I was not prepared to be captivated by his "Memaw", young beyond years and making me feel at ease, considering the circumstance of my presence. I had to become part of this family and if not, I wanted to be adopted by her.
After a year, there was no adoption needed, I became part of a wonderful family with Memaw as its grande dame. An understatement , as I watched her go through the emotional pain of seeing all of her daughters endure illness, and losing two to death, I could not of admired her less, but hoped I would grow to have her perseverance if I were to be handed the same. I will miss you Memaw, and all the chats we had when together. You touched a lot of lives and many will remember you with either a wince or a big grin.
Till we meet again Memaw, I will love you always.

I am sorry for your loss Dawn (and family). You know we are here for you if you need anything.

Memaw had a big personality. Her eyes lit up when she laughed. Her singing voice was so nice. She could be both cantankerous and a great accomplice. I have so many significant memories, some happy, some sad, and some comic. There are stories about her that can make us laugh and some that can make a jaw drop. We love and will miss Memaw very much.
