Carl Frederick Grummer Sr., 88, of Conway died Saturday (Feb. 19, 2005). He was born March 29, 1916, in Conway to the late Gerhard Grummer and Margaret Nahlen Grummer. He was a former business owner of B an G Company, retired Arkansas Gazette distributor/carrier and owner of other small business. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus and member of CK of A, member of St. Joseph Parish and former St. Joseph Bazaar Chairman, graduate of Subiaco, Corpus Christi Academy (Corpus Christi, Texas) and a Army Veteran of WWII and served in the Aleutian Islands as a staff sergeant.

He is survived by four sons, Carl Grummer, Jr. of Little Rock, Gerald Grummer of Sherwood, Robert Grummer of Farmington, and John Mark Grummer of Camden, five daughters, Angela Rogers of Van Buren, Catherine Seidl of Little Rock, Olga Lys Luyet and Marguerite Brewer both of Conway and Theresa Dodson of Shreveport, brother Tony Grummer of Conway sister, Anna Reynolds-Pugil of Houston, Texas, twenty eight grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Florence Beshara Grummer. Special thanks to his caregiver Peggy Burns-Rappold.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph School Endowment fund

I met Mr. Grummer on a few family occasions that I attended with my sister, Dinah, who is married to Carl Jr. Those occasions and all that I ever heard about him leave the impression that Mr. Grummer was a fine representative of the Greatest Generation.
