Virginia Long Phillips, 77, of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at her residence.
She was born April 12, 1933 at Southside, Arkansas and was the daughter of Simeon Long and Neca Carridine Long.
Virginia worked with her husband, Albert Phillips, at Phillips TV and Appliance until her retirement. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed cooking, especially fruit pies, and vegetable and flower gardening. She also enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, and hunting deer. She was an avid reader of western novels. Virginia was a member of Flippo Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Albert Phillips of Pleasant Plains; two sons, Michael Phillips and Patrick Phillips, both of Pleasant Plains; four daughters, Fonda Phillips, Rhonda Pierce, and Tanya Phillips, all of Pleasant Plains, and Laneca Herrin of Cushman; nine grandchildren, Brian Gray, Tim Raborn, Eric Raborn, Mike Raborn, Matthew Chappell, Philip Herrin, Zane Herrin, Karisha Richardson, and Holly Martin; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and seven sisters, Louanne Carson, Julia Ware, Mae Long, Elsie Long, Lois Brooker, Aline Allen, and Velma Apple.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Roller-Crouch Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Joe Helms officiating.
Burial will be at Gray's Chapel Cemetery near Sandtown.
Pallbearers are Brian Gray, Tim Raborn, Eric Raborn, Mike Raborn, Matthew Chappell, Philip Herrin and Zane Herrin.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2011
