Louise Burris Rose

of Little Rock, AR

April 30, 1922 - June 2, 2010

Louise Burris Rose, 88, of Little Rock, formerly of North Little Rock passed away June 2, 2010. Louise was born April 30, 1922, to the late Earl Henry and Mabel Rasco Burris in Mexia, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin B. Rose; two brothers, A.J. Burris and Woody Burris, and grandson, John William Carlton.

Louise spent some of the happiest days of her life in the hills of Mena, AR. She graduated from Mena High School, where she made many life-long friends. When she married Melvin B. Rose, they finally made their home in North Little Rock, AR. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years. Louise is fondly remembered as a Sunday School teacher of countless two year olds, and later five year olds. She was instrumental in starting the Kindergarten Program at Park Hill Baptist in the late 60's. The program grew to include one of the first Christian day-care centers for children of working parents in the area. Later in life, Louise joined Bible Study Fellowship, and for many years she served as a group leader in the day class in North Little Rock, AR.

Her red hair and "Lucy" antics earned her the same nickname. Of all of her qualities, her unconditional love for people will be her legacy.

She is survived by two sisters, Reba A. Workman, and Juanita Newman; one daughter, Patricia Rose Carlton and her husband, William P. Carlton; one granddaughter, Joanna Rose Kronbach and husband, K.C. Kronbach; and five great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Mr. Aubrey Warren.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 at Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East "C" Avenue, North Little Rock, AR 72116, with Reverend Luke Flesher officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. before the service at the church. Arrangements made by Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400).

Louise's family extends a special thank you to her faithful caregivers, Deborah Piggee, Bridgette Piggee, Lisa Bruce, Gayle Green, and Cindy Stehle. The staff at Parkway Heights and Parkway Village, especially Lisa Lowery, Marsha Cunningham, Dr. Tolleson, Dottie Moore and Sharon Hernandez, made Louise's last years full and fun.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Children's Ministry at Park Hill Baptist Church.

I just learned of Louise's passing and had a flood of memories of my early childhood around the family. Pat , I am so sorry about your mother. She will be missed. She always ran up to me and threw her arms around me when she saw me.She was a wonderful person and I am happy that I knew her and your whole family. She used to embarass be about always running outside without a stitch of clothing on when i was just a baby and we lived next door on H Street. Good memories.

I grew up with Louise in Mena, Arkansas. I'm sorry to hear of her passing. She knew me as Dorothy Peters and I knew her as Louise Burris. She was a year behind me in school.

Louise was good for my father, Aubrey Warren. She brightened his life with her beauty, grace, and affection. I regret that I failed to tell her that she made my life better as well. I am grateful for the friendship that she shared with my father and how that friendship blessed his life. I fear his grief will be profound. He has always spoken so highly of Louise's family, and I would like to express my gratitude for their kindness to Aubrey Warren. I feel great sorrow for the family of Louise Rose, and pray that God's presence will console them in their grief.

This picture really captures Louise as we all remember her. No matter where she went she was always "fixed up". She loved people and always had a sweet smile and kind words. I loved being with her in Bible Study Fellowship. My first memories of her was the way she loved her "Rose" (husband). May God give you his precious grace Pat and Bill as you let your sweet mother go. You have surely been a loving daughter and son in law.
Love and prayers,
JoAnn Martin

I was lucky enough to meet Mrs. Rose in 2007 & form a bond with her, that I will hold close to my heart forever. I will always remember her contagious laugh, gentle spirit & love for sweets "any kind at any time".
To the family, I am deeply sorry for your loss.

We adore Miss Louise and will miss her beautiful face, bright personality and loving nature.
She has been such a wonderful, supportive friend to our dad/father-in-law, Aubrey Warren, through the years. It will be very hard for him to endure this painful loss.
We will miss dining out and spending lovely evenings with her during our (too infrequent) visits to Little Rock.
Please know that we will all miss her greatly and will be sending good thoughts to you and your family now and always.

Louise was such a joy to know and a wonderful example of a Christian mother, grandmother and friend. My mother , Jerry Barron, enjoyed Louise walking over to Sevier Drive from Pope to vist her, especially when she became ill. I love Pat and Bill and their children and grandchildren. I will be praying for God's grace at this time. Love, Becky Rogers
