Joni Croft Massey, 81, of Booneville, Ark. passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at her home in Booneville. She was born September 30, 1928 in Evening Shade, Ark. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles C. "Chuck" Massey, Sr. of the home; one daughter, Rosemary Harris and husband, Robert G. "Bob" Harris of Booneville; one son, Conway Massey and wife, Lynn of Fayetteville; one sister, Joan Coggins of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Heather R. (Harris) Callaway and husband, Dan of North Little Rock, Holly R. Harris of Booneville, John Robert Harris and wife, Lincoln of Little Rock, Beth (Massey) Rogers and husband, Stanley of Fayetteville, Trevor Bloomfield of Fayetteville and Nathan Bloomfield of Springdale; five great-grandchildren, Milly Rogers, Jack Callaway, Katie Callaway, Cole Callaway and Violet Bloomfield; cousins Janet Williams, Gayle Croft, Kenneth Croft, Myron Croft, Carol Gaither and a host of other cousins and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Myrtle Hamm Croft of Booneville and her brother Donald Wayne Croft of Evening Shade.
She was a bookkeeper for the family business, Massey/Harris Pontiac-Buick-GMC Truck, Inc., as well as founder and operator of Booneville's first radio station, KJON 92.1 FM. She was a published writer of the book Turnip Greens and Cornbread Days, multiple essays and short stories. She possessed a deep passion for her church, First Baptist Church of Booneville, where she served in numerous capacities including Sunday School Director for many years. She wanted all to know the joy and peace of the Lord.
Pallbearers will be Dan Callaway, Wade Coggins, David Croft, John Wayne Croft, David Remy, Robert Riggin, Jim West and Ron West. Honorary pallbearers will be Adult Two Division Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Booneville.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Booneville with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Booneville Funeral Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Joni Massey Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 328, Booneville, AR 72927.

Dear Family, We are so sorry. We are thinking of you and praying for you God's peace and comfort. Joni was such a dear lady and we treasure those wonderful times with her. God bless each of you.
