Former Jonesboro resident Rev. Gaylon V. Williams, 81, died May 17, 2010, in Temple, TX where he has resided for the past seven years.
Rev. Williams was born on December 24, 1928 in Jonesboro, AR to the late Ora and Ila Williams. He was the youngest of seven children. On June 14, 1952, he was united in marriage to Charlene T. Boling in Jonesboro, AR. He worked at General Electric fifteen years until his disability retirement in 1975. He then entered into the ministry and Pastored in the Church of God (Holiness) over the next nineteen years in Winfield, KS; Berryville, AR; Ripley, TN; Miami, OK; Ava, MO; Albia, IA; Jonesboro, AR. He loved being in the service of the Lord he also enjoyed reading.
Gaylon is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Charlene; his son, Vernon and wife Vicky Williams of Wichita, KS; his daughter, Judy and husband Phillip Boldra of Temple, TX; and three grandchildren whom he adored Valerie and husband Eric Grier, Vincent Williams of Wichita, KS and Justin Boldra of Temple, TX; one great grandson, Trevor Grier of Wichita, KS.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings, Ora Lee, Thomas Ora, Murl, Armada Shook, Elizabeth Overfield and Ila Mae Harris.
Active pallbearers will include Vincent Williams, Justin Boldra, Phillip Harris, Gary Harris, Eric Grier and Charles Hester.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel. Officiated by Rev. Lonnie Witt, pastor of the Church of God (Holiness) in Gravett, AR and Bro. Troy Cunningham will assist. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro.
Visitation will be Thursday May 20, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
He fought a good fight, he kept the faith, and he has finished his course.
