Alta Adeline Simmons Person, 91 of Searcy went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 20, 2009. She was born June 23, 1918 in Stone County, Arkansas to the late A.B. and Ida Jeanette Morrison Simmons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years in 1991, Ernest Lee Person; 2 brothers, Herbert Mack Simmons and A.J. Simmons; 4 sisters, Jewell Marshall, Rubel Latture, Willodean Moore, and Vinita Saxon. Mrs. Person was a member of the Higginson Methodist Church at the time of her death.
She is survived by her children, Frances Merritt, Robert Person (Janie), Billy Person (Susan), Janet Hieber; nine grandchildren, David Merritt (Kathi), Kathy Graham (Donald), Steve Merritt (Heidi), Kellie Burnett (Terry), Nina Taylor (Kevin), Jill Fouse (Tim), Jayme Lingo, Jodi Diamond (Josh), and Scotty Person (Kim); sixteen Great-grandchildren, Beverly Merritt, Melissa Golden (Craig), Matthew Graham, Meredith Mullen (Damien), Tyler Merritt, Taylor Merritt, Haley Merritt, Annalise Merritt, Garret Taylor, Molly Taylor, Macy Fouse, Meg Fouse, Trent Lingo, Phoebie Lingo, Haley Person, and Claire Person; and one Great-Great granddaughter, Aubrey Mullen.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Beebe Cemetery in Beebe. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, (501)268-3546.
