Letha Melvina Robertson, 94, of Glen Rose, died July 9, 2009 in Benton. She was born October 17, 1914 in Eden, Texas to the late Monroe and Mary Etta (Brown) Oliver. Her family moved to Athens, Texas. In 1931, she met and married the late Fred C. (Snake) Robertson. They moved to Malvern in 1941 and to Glen Rose in 1948, where she was active in the Glen Rose Baptist Church. She organized the Ladies Auxiliary and was a Sunday School leader until her death. She also organized the Glen Rose P.T.A., helped organize the Glen Rose Volunteer Fire Department. She was secretary and treasurer several years and on its Board of Directors before resigning.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Robertson, and one brother, Harvey Oliver, all of Texas.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Helen) Robertson and Fred Lee Robertson, Jr of Glen Rose; a daughter, Monalee Tidwell of Damascus; a sister, Para Valora of Athens, Texas; six grandchildren; DeWayne (Rita) Robertson, Lyndon (Sonya) Robertson, Teresa Farrar (Danny), Brian Robertson, Paige (Nick) Mayhair of Beebe; six great-grandchildren, Leah Robertson, Lisa Robertson, Nikki Robertson, Josh Robertson, all of Glen Rose, Dustin Pennington and Brittany Pennington of Florida; one great-great-grandchild, Braelyn Mayhair; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 13, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Glen Rose Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at Fairplay Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Robertson, DeWayne Robertson, Lyndon Robertson, Raymond Yerby, Ray Otts, and Russell Winchel.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047).
