Conley Bratton, 91, of Batesville died Monday, July 6, 2009 at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
He was born in Tuckerman, Arkansas on Tuesday, September 18, 1917 and was the son of Lottie Emery Bratton and Alice (Allie) Crumley Bratton. He served in the U. S. Army at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II and received three bronze stars while serving his country. Conley was a nature lover and as such enjoyed walking, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Harrison Street Church of Christ. He loved to read, especially the Bible. In fact, he read the New Testament through so many times that he nearly wore it out and he also had read the entire Bible through several times. Conley also had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Christine (Sheffield) Bratton of Batesville; a son, Gary Bratton of Hot Springs; a daughter, Mary Lou Painter of Batesville; three grandchildren: Lori Spinks, Chris Rhodes and Tom Rhodes; and six great-grandchildren: Kelly Rhodes, Andy Rhodes, Heather Rhodes, Jamie Rhodes, Hunter Spinks and Bailey Spinks.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Amanda Boles Bratton; one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Harrison Street Church of Christ with Tom German officiating.
Burial will follow the services at Blue Springs Cemetery in Newark under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chad Sade, Chris Rhodes, Doug Cotton, Ted Hyslip, Barry Spinks and Donald Boles. Honorary pallbearers are Floyd Farris, Gail Ring, Carl Miller, Douglas Pitts and Dr. Robert Walton.

Mr. Conley was such an interesting man to talk to. He had seen and experienced so much in his 91 years and reminded me alot of my DeDe. I will miss visiting with him when we come to Arkansas. God Bless you all at this time of loss.

Gary, I'm so sorry about your Dad an sorry I was late finding out thanks to our friend rick I got a email I also lost my Dad on 6 May 09, May God bless you Gary we both know where our Dad's are now.
