of Mountain View, AR
October 15, 1950 - April 17, 2009
Alan Wayne Harper entered into eternal fellowship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, April 17, 2009. He left behind his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Lorinda; his three daughters, Danyelle (Paul) Harris, Carrie (Tim) Bourne, and Tami (Rob) Griffith; his brother, Robin Harper; his eight grandchildren, Alyssa, Caleb, Jordan, Titus, Dax, Baylee, Silas and Georgia; and mother-in-law, Ruby Willingham and many loving relatives and a host of close friends, and the members of Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church, where he had spent thirteen years in joyful ministry. He will join those already with our Savior including his parents, Gerald and Alice Harper and his sister, Sharron Allison.
After a childhood in Georgia, Wayne served his country for twenty-one years as a decorated member of the United States Air Force. While stationed at Barksdale AFB in Bossier city, LA, Wayne surrendered to full-time ministry. For the remainder of his life, there was nothing he loved more than spreading the good news of God's love-through both song and sermon. He is probably still playing his guitar, singing tenor, accidentally knocking shelves off the wall of his heavenly mansion, and doing his legendary Elvis impersonation.
Brother Wayne will be remembered for the passion with which he lived his life. He laughed and cried every time he was near his wife, his daughters, his grandchildren, or his Lord. Anyone who wishes to celebrate his life or honor his memory is invited to a memorial service at Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20th, 2009.
Visitation is 4 8 p.m., Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church, Mtn. View.
Funeral Service is 2 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2009 at Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church, Mtn. View.
Roller Crouch Funeral Home, Mtn. View is in charge of the arrangements.

Lovw you Uncle Wayne, miss you.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Wayne's passing. We were 1st couins and grew up together. Wayne's Dad and my Mother were brother and sister and they were very close. They passed away within 2 months apart. There was 3 years difference in wanye and I. Distance kept us apart; but we loved one another and I will miss him.
My condolences to his family............I wish someone would have let us know that Wayne had passed away. We all loved him very much.

We are praying for you Harper Family. Your father was such a blessing to know. God bless you!

Bro. Wayne has just heard "well done thy good and faithful servant".
I remember the SS class that Bro. Wayne taught at BCMBC in 1980 that I was a part of and can remember not being a perfect student. He was however a great teacher. I can't remember what all was taught, but thank God I attended his class.
My father and Wayne often saw each other at BAFB, they now are seeing each other again. Bless the Harper family.

We think of you all each day. Bro. Wayne will be missed so much. It seem almost impossible that he has made it to heaven and left us behind. That must be the reason for that smile. We love you all and pray for you. God bless,
Mike and Ann

I knew Bro. Wayne from his occasional shops in my store. I work with LifeWay Christian Store in Little Rock and on those few occasions when he would be in the area, he would come into the store and see me. I respected him greatly and am saddened by his passing. God bless the family and the church.

Nona and I are saddened to hear of Wayne's death. We will always remember him as a tender and kind person who reflected Christ every day. What a wonderful legacy to leave for his children and grandchildren as well as for all of us to follow.
Lorinda, we send you our love and prayers as you enter this new phase in your life. We have comfort in knowing that Wayne has won his victory and you can have assurance that you will be reunited some day.
Love,
Darrell and Nona

May the Holy Spirit comfort the Harper family and Flatwoods. Bro. Harper will truly be missed as he has been called to yet an even greater ministry. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Lorinda, My heart goes out to you and your family. Could not believe it when I read the CCHerald. Just know my prayers and thoughts have been with you. What a wonderful life you two have had on this earth, and more to come when you meet again in heaven. I love you, girl and hope to see you next time you come to your other "home" down here. Sandy

You and your family are in my prayers. I pray you find the extra strength you'll need in this time of loss. I pray your minds will be full of joyful memories, and you find rest with the reassurance of His promises.

To the Harper family,
I remember meeting Bro. and Sis. Harper several years ago at a state meeting in Bossier City and being so impressed with the family´s singing. I did not know the family well but appreciate so much the love that Bro. Wayne Harper has demonstrated for World missions.. To the Children: I lost my father, who was a pastor, last year. While we greave so much in our hearts, long to see them once more, we can have confindence in knowing we will see them again.
Joe Barker

The Harpers were blessing our family at Liberty MBC in Shreveport, LA during the early '90s. I received this news about 2 hrs ago and am saddened but know that Wayne is with the Lord. Everytime I think of my daughter's birth I think of Lorinda--She was right there. Everytime I hear "Beulah-Land" I think of Wayne, and will, till I see him again.-----Andy Snow

Sister Lorinda and Family, We are praying for you and your family during this difficult time for your family.
Bro Wayne was a fine man of God and we know that today he is walking and talking with Jesus in the cool of the day in Heaven.
He will be missed by those of us who knew him.

We are praying for the family at this time of great loss. We appreciated brother Waynes ministry. We enjoyed the service a few years ago when our family presented a music program for your church. We will look forward to another time in the future. God is able to give us His peace in times of loss. We will pray for His grace to lift you up. The Mattingly Family

What a celebration! One of the greatest measures of a departed man is the amount of love he recieved from those left behind, and the children he raised. By that measure, Wayne Harper left a wonderful legacy. We count it a great pleasure to have had the relationship with this great family.

Lorinda, Danyelle, Carrie and Tami,
We are remembering all the good times we had when we both ministered in the same association in Shreveport, LA many years ago. My how time flies. God is so good to give us great friends. You are some of the finest. We still laugh when we think about the youth and mission rallies we attended together. Our kids were so funny together and it was always a blessing to hear each of you sing. Your faithfulness has been an inspiration to us as we watch the Lord use you in so many ways. We are confident He will continue to do so. We will pray for strength and comfort as you take one day at a time in His loving arms. We know you will also have many hugs from your freinds and family nearby. Love you all, Mark, Wanda ,Stephen and Jennifer (Forrest) Smith

Dearest Lorinda,

Dear Lorinda and girls,
My heart is saddened with the departing of Wayne. What a great friend and brother in Christ he was. From the days of serving the Lord together in Bossier City, in missing him while he was away serving our country, in playing softball together, in sweet fellowship with him as a friend, and in communications via email in the past years, he will be missed by me and my family. But our sorrow will be brief knowing that we will be together with our Saviour once again serving the King of all Glory in all His wonder and majesty. Wayne's sweet music and loving heart can already be heard if we just listen. God Bless you in this time of relection and loss. May our God comfort you in every turn of events..."Precious Memories...how they ever flood my soul. In the stillness, of the midnight, precious Memories-scenes unfold."
Your Brother In Christ and friend-
Gary and Linda Guffey

Our prayers are with the family. Bro. Wayne was a wonderful preacher and friend. He will always be remembered as a leader in our Lord's work.

God bless.

Lorinda & the girls. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Wayne was a good man. I held a lot of respect for Wayne.
You all are in my prayers. May the Lord see you through this difficult time.

Brother Wayne always made us feel like "home folk" when we're at Flatwoods. His presence will be missed. We pray God's peace and comfort upon Lorinda and the children.

We looked forward to going to Flatwoods, every time we came home. Brother Wayne will be missed by members as well as long-time visitors of the church.

What a wonderful friend and Christian example Bro. Wayne was! We are so sad to hear that he is gone. We are praying for you family.

Linda and I send our heartfelt prayers and thoughts to your family. Bro. Wayne was loved and respected for his preaching and leadership among the churches of the American Baptist Association. He will be missed, but our grief is not for him, as he is in a much better place. Our grief is for his family and ourselves who will miss him very much.
God Bless You,
James & Linda Calhoun
