Dora Hicks, 87, of Pleasant Plains died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
She was born in Sallisaw, Oklahoma on February 26, 1922 and was the daughter of Frank Kazmir and Bertha Jane (Bargie) Laxton. She was a member of Crossroads Church of Christ in Bradford. Dora enjoyed going to church, loved being with her family, gardening and crocheting.
Dora is survived by one son, Marcus Ralph Hicks, Jr. of Pleasant Plains; two daughters: Gracie Drury of Prophetstown, Illinois and Linda Hicks of Pleasant Plains; three grandchildren; three grandchildren: Dan Drury of Marmaduke, Dave Drury of Jonesboro, Debra Sexton of Lake City; four great-grandchildren: Kelley Drury, Jake Drury, Jennie Thomas, Amy Thomas; and one great-great-grandchild, Lena Thomas; three brothers: Earnest Kazmir, Z. L. Laxton and Junior Laxton; two sisters: Lily Laxton and Margie Laxton.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Hicks; one daughter, Joyce Hicks; three brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Price Cemetery with Brother Dan Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
