Opal McAlister Moye, 84, of Cave City died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at her home.
She was born in Russellville, Arkansas on February 4, 1924 to William Thombson and Nellie (Beaumont) McAlister.
Opal was a homemaker and was a solid, loving person who was a really good listener. She loved to bake pies, cakes and was a really great cook. Opal read the newspaper every day and could talk to her children and grandchildren about any current event, even sporting events and knew all about the players and what they were currently doing. For the past ten years, she was a member of the Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leon Moye of the home; Sons: Larry Moye of Cave City and Audie Moye, also of Cave City; Daughters: Melanie Hand of Coweta, Oklahoma and Tanya Sensabaugh of Cave City; Grandchildren: Todd Moye, Loretta Moye, B. J. Sills, Jr., Jason Sills, Tommy Sills, Josh Moye, Brandi Glass, Morgan Sensabaugh, and Mason Sensabaugh; Great-Grandchildren: Ashley Moye, Brooke Moye, Haley Sills, Alli Moye and Zach Moye; Brother, W. B. McAlister of Jacksonville; Sisters: Vera Hardin of Searcy, Imogene West of Heber Springs and Margaret Poe of Judsonia. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Scott Darein Moye; a brother, Leo McAlister; a twin brother, Olen McAlister who died at birth; and a sister, Jewel Stephens.
Graveside services are at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Gum Springs Cemetery in Searcy with Brother Jack Meier and Brother Carroll Kinley conducting the service.
Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Darwin, Mitchel Brewer, Clarence Stocks, James Chapman and Doyle Cossey.
The family will receive friends at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
