John R. Muse, CMSGT-USAF (Ret), age 78, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Conway Regional Hospital, after a short battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Florence Muse, three brothers, two sisters, and by his first wife, Lois Johnson Muse.
He is survived by his wife, Carma Lawrence Stobaugh Muse; two sons, David Muse & his wife Katherine of Spring, TX, Richard Muse of Dallas, TX; three step-children, Sherry Mendez and husband Luis of Kansas City, KS, Brenda Alred and husband Mike of Greenbrier, AR and Rick Stobaugh and wife Tammy of Bryant, AR; nine grandchildren, D. J. Muse, Chad Muse, Kerri Muse, Miranda Mendez Hoit, Brett Mendez, Dane Alred, Rachel Alred Thornton, Haley Stobaugh and Hunter Stobaugh; and two great-grandchildren Dylan Muse and Ava Mendez. He is also survived by two sisters, Lillie Cagle and Jean Bryant, as well as many nieces and nephews.
During his career with the USAF he participated in the Mutual Defense Assistance program in the 1940's rebuilding American Allied Military System. He was a veteran of the Cold War and Korean War and served two tours in Vietnam War. He was awarded numerous commendations for performance and valor including Presidential Citation and the Bronze Star.
Following retirement, John raised Beefmaster cattle on a ranch in Pope County and contributed time and money to helping youth involved with showing cattle in county and state fairs. He was an active member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church and the Adult I Sunday School class.
He was a beloved husband, father and friend to many and will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Woodland Heights Baptist Church, Bro. David Hatfield officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway.
Visitation is Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
Pallbearers will be members of the Adult I Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to Woodland Heights Baptist Church or to your local hospice.

My sincere condolences to the family. I am the son of his late brother George B.Muse and remember visiting Uncle Bob's farm when I was a child. I am sorry for your loss as he was a good man and will be missed.

Sherry, you and your family are in thoughts and prayers of so many. As I read about your Dad, I learned about his honor, his charity of giving to others, and service to God. Then I realized it was your Dad who led you by his examples. Keep your arms around each other, and know he is in the arms of the One who brought us all to the wonderful dance of life.....celebrate and rejoice in his dance. Take good care.
