A Funeral for Gaither Kitchell, age 97, of Gassville, Arkansas, will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the Roller Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Michael Shy officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends. Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Cotter. Mr. Kitchell passed away Sunday evening, September 30, 2007, at Gassville Nursing Center.
He was born June 23, 1910, at Piedmont, Missouri, to Blanche and Albert Kitchell. He married Grace Thrasher and had four children: Deloris, Dwain, Nancy and Gaither Harold. He worked for Boeing Aircraft during his first marriage.
He married Betty Nichols on February 26, 1951, and had two children: Dwain Leslie and Terry Lynn. He worked for the Southern Pacific, Missouri and Union Pacific Railroad. His hobbies included cave exploring, rocks and minerals, fishing and watching Cardinal baseball games.
He is survived by three sons: Les (Linda) Kitchell: Gassville; Dwain (Margaret) Kitchell: Knoxville, Tennessee; and Gaither (Paula) Kitchell: Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters: Deloris (William) Klem: Winnemucca, Nevada, and Nancy Baledge: Flippin; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; first and second wives; and one sister.
Pallbearers will be his three sons: Les, Dwain, and Gaither Kitchell.

I will miss Gaither! He was a light in the darkness and a true inspiration to me and to the people that work at Baxter House. He always had a story for us and now and again brought a rock and told us the history of it. He was a special person and will always hold a place in my heart.
