Buster (Buck) Lewis, age 82, of Bryant left us to spend eternity with the Good Lord on April 17, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Buck was born to the late Thomas and Maebell Lewis on October 9, 1924 in DeKalb County, Alabama. Mr. Lewis was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the 10th Mountain Division serving in Unit 10AT&A from 1943 to 1945. After a career with Prudential Insurance Company, Buck retired from Farmers Union Insurance Company where he was Claims Manager. After retiring he devoted his life to his wife and family. His passion was gardening, and he taught his grandsons how to “farm”, sell vegetables and to love and respect all things under heaven. Buck was a member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church.
Buck is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dora Nell Abell Lewis; daughters, Deborah Lewis Strauss and husband, Rick, of Englewood, Colorado and Jane Lewis Wahlgren and husband, Ken, of Pangburn, Arkansas; grandsons, Jordan and Jeffrey Strauss and great-granddaughter, Jenna Wahlgren, or as Buck called her “Cookie”; brother Kennith Lewis of Littleton, Colorado; sister, Nonov Clark of Valley Head, Alabama; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 23, 2007 in the Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Chapel (501) 455-5800 with Dr. Bob Wofford officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Sunday at the funeral home.
