John S. Malinowski
of Henderson, AR
June 12, 1934 - September 28, 2010 John S. Malinowski, age 76, of Henderson, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born June 12, 1934, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to John Stanley and Sarah Naomi Arnold Malinowski. On April 8, 1958, he married Joyce Evelyn Lanpher while serving in the United States Air Force in Germany. Mr. Malinowski retired from the United States Air Force as a Lt. Colonel with 20 years of service and also served as a manager of the Roberts Chevrolet Dealership in Bonner Springs, Kansas. He moved to Henderson 15 years ago from Kansas City, Kansas. Mr. Malinowski was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, had served in the the Henderson Volunteer Fire Department, and enjoyed boating, fishing, flying, and crossword puzzles. He is survived by his wife: Joyce E. Malinowski: of the home; three sons: John (Teresa) Malinowski III: Bonner Springs, Kansas; Joseph M. (Denise) Malinowski: Berthoud, Colorado; and Jerome E. Malinowski: Boston, Massachusetts; a daughter: Linda (Joseph E.) Murray: Olathe, Kansas; a sister: Elizabeth Fredrickson: Kansas City, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: John S. Malinowski; mother: Sarah Malinowski Watkins; stepfather: Merlyn Gale Watkins; and one sister: Joan Hoppe. Visitation will be from 1:00-9:00 P.M. Sunday, October 3, 2010, with the family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Roller Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kansas, with Msgr. Mike Mullen, celebrant. Interment with military honors in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or a favorite charity.
