Audrey Mae McClendon

May 16, 1923 - July 31, 2010 Audrey Mae McClendon, 87, of Memphis, formerly of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010. Audrey was born to the late William F. Minton and Lula Madge Miller Minton on May 16, 1923 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas.
Audrey was of the baptist faith, attended First Baptist Church in Helena and worked for over 37 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Audrey is survived by a son, John O. McClendon (Polly) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a daughter, Barbara McClendon Carruth (Wayne) of Germantown, Tennessee; 6 grandchildren, Robert McClendon (Lanette) of Lee Summit, Missouri, Steve McClendon (Janal) of Tallahassee, Florida, Amanda Norris (Donnie) of Wilmington, N. C, John O McClendon, II (Trisha) of Charlotte, N.C., Christie Bruegger (Matthew) of Austin, TX., and Michael Carruth of New Orleans, LA.; sister, Mildred Minton Herrington of West Helena, AR; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis McClendon; 2 brothers, Harry and Leonard Minton; a sister, Alma Minton Smedley; and her step-father, John Stovall.
Pallbearers are Wayne Carruth, Robert McClendon, Steve McClendon, Michael Carruth, John McClendon, Matthew Bruegger.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Helena. Reverend Steve Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
