Gerald Hook

Gerald Vernon Hook, Sr. age 81 of Mount Pleasant, Arkansas passed away September 24, 2008 at the Community Medical Center of Izard County. He was born October 17, 1926 in Belton, Missouri to the late Charles W. and Pearl (Ashbaugh) Hook.
Mr. Hook was a United States Army veteran serving during WWII. Mr. Hook was briefly a cowboy on a working ranch in Arizona, and then earned Master's degrees in Biology and Conservation from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He helped develop the sport fish known as buffalo and operated a fish hatchery. His longer career was at hospitals. He was an assistant pathologist at Cancer Research in Columbia. He also worked at St. Joseph, Missouri and Alton, Illinois. As a radio-physiologist at Jefferson Barracks Veterans' Hospital in St. Louis, Gerald wrote some of the first computer programs ever for analyzing film images of patients' internal organs using nuclear medicine.
Mr. Hook is survived by his son: Gerald V. Hook, Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri and his two daughters: Taryn Appel of Mount Pleasant, Arkansas and Alaine Seastrom of Phoenix, Arizona. They have a half-sister, Frances Skillman of Orange Park, Florida and two half-brothers, Bo Bond of Las Vegas, New Mexico and David Bond of Waddell, Arizona.
