Jewel "J. W." William Brewer
of Evening Shade, AR
March 16, 1922 - November 13, 2007 Jewel William (J. W.) Brewer, 85, of Evening Shade died Tuesday at a hospital in Salem. He was the son of Nathaniel and Lurenia (Williams) Brewer born March 16, 1922 in Myrtle, Missouri. J. W. was a Tech Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force having served for twenty years of service as a machinist. After his retirement from the service, he worked for 14 years with civil service continuing his work in aircraft maintenance. He was a mason and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War. J. W. also enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking and just being outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Joyce (DeMarce) Brewer; seven step-sons: David Rhodes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jim Rhodes of Tennessee, Rick Rhodes of Arkansas, Jack Rhodes of Virginia, Bob Rhodes of Arkansas, Ken Rhodes of Florida and John Rhodes of Washington; two stepdaughters: Kathryn West of Virginia and Cynthia Bowen of Oklahoma. Other survivors include four grandchildren: David Woodruff of Del City, Oklahoma, Sean Obernier of Vero Beach, Florida, Lynne Bowen and Cody Bowen both of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; and five great-grandchildren: Danny Cardenas of Arizona, Jenifer Cardenas of Washington state, Sara Chancy of Germany, Heather Choate and Hank Woodruff both of Del City, Oklahoma; 21 step-grandchildren and nephew, Jack Brewer. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Thompson; a granddaughter, Jeri Cardenas and his brothers and sisters. There is no visitation planned. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18 at the Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
