Lucius Newton Bray, 76, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, in Mt. Pleasant. He was born on August 9, 1935 at Mt. Pleasant, to Alvis and Vera McSpadden Bray.
Lucius was a veteran of the United State Army, a cattleman, and along with his brother Paul, owned and operated Batesville Livestock Auction for several years. He was a member of Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. Lucius was a good and honest friend to all those he knew.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Roberta Lake Bray; one son, Barry Bray and his wife, Lynn of Mt. Pleasant; a son-in-law, Freddy Tharp of Floral; five grandsons: Brayden Tharp and his wife, Vanessa; Bryson Tharp and his wife, Amanda, Keagan Tharp of Floral; Miles Bray and Evan Bray both of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Paul Bray; three sisters: Veola Claxton, Joyce Mynatt, and Beth Edwards all of Mt. Pleasant; several nieces and nephews; and some special friends: Travis and Katheryn Moser, Beth Cupp, and Jack and Susan Fuller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved daughter, Deanna Tharp; three brothers: Reese, Reed and Coy Bray; and one sister, Leola Webb.
Pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Don McSpadden, Brian Anderson, Jimmy Bray, Royce Slade, Howard Lamb, Conny Johnson, Delmas Johnson, and Bob Brooks.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, at Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant with Brent Ballow and Steve Shauf officiating. Burial will follow in the Barren Fork Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at Roller Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.
