Carolyn was born in Paragould, Arkansas to Dr.Junius Byron and Elizabeth Marguerite Bisbee Futrell. She attended school in Rector, Arkansas. Upon graduating, she attended Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas earning a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Teaching.

Carolyn was very active in many groups in Fairfield Bay. The Fairfield Bay Tennis Club was one of her favorites and she played with many residents and timeshare visitors of all skill levels. Everyone enjoyed playing with Carolyn as she was very supportive and accepting of all. She was an original stockholder member of the Hart Center, where she was pretty much a constant fixture. She was an active member of the Hart Center hiking club and explored many of the trails in North Central Arkansas. Carolyn was also active in the FFB Fire Department Auxiliary, FFB Wild Flower Garden Club and the VFW Auxiliary #4513.

Carolyn is survived by John A. Cook and daughter, Devin Nix both of Fairfield Bay; daughter, Danica Konetski of Sugar Grove, IL; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Nye Hatcher and grandson, Michael Nix. Carolyn will be greatly missed by her many friends in Fairfield Bay and surrounding community. She especially loved her friends at the Hart Center, spending her after workout time around the table, drinking coffee, catching up on the local happenings and playing Trivial Pursuit. These folks were also her ''family.''

A celebration of life may be held at a later date.

I fell in love with Carolyn the first time I met her at Thursday Pool at the VFW. I dubbed her "Charlie" and always called her that. Why Because my dad's name was Charlie whom I loved dearly and loved Carolyn dearly. She will be greatly missed by all but will always remain in our hearts.
