May 20, 1944 - January 31, 2024

Jon Gordon Fritch of Little Rock, passed away on January 31, 2024 at the age of 79. Jon was born in Phoenix, Arizona and graduated from North High School. After completing his high school studies, he attended community college and later joined the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War. Upon discharge from the Navy, Jon joined his father in a family-owned business, Reddy's Corner. For the next 15 years, Jon and his wife owned and operated three convenience and liquor stores in the Phoenix area.

In 1981 Jon moved his family to Eureka Springs, Arkansas where he held the position of District Manager of Holiday Island Suburban Improvement District. Years later, Jon pursued a lifelong goal to return to college and complete his degree. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1989 with a degree in Accounting and Computer Information Systems and became a CPA. For many years, he owned his own accounting practice, as well as held positions as Controller of Bunger Steel and J.M. Products.

Jon was a thrill seeker and that was evident in his hobbies. He raced sprint buggy cars and midgets at Manzanita Speedway, where he was known to complete a ''hat trick'', winning a trophy dash, heat race and the main event all in the same race night. He had his private pilot's license and also built an experimental aircraft. In his later years, he was fond of hot rod cars. Jon was an avid reader, inquisitive and rarely met a stranger.

Jon is preceded in death by his parents, Reddy and June Fritch and siblings, Mike Fritch, Karen Fritch and Dennis Fritch. His daughter, Jan Giles also precedes him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Teri Fritch; as well as two children, their spouses, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. They include his daughter, Pam Somerville (Cory) of Peoria, Arizona; granddaughters, Lauren (Kordell), Madison (Danny), Shanlyn and Kennedy; daughter, Katie Staggs (Rodney) of Little Rock; granddaughter, Olivia and grandson, Jon Thomas; son-in-law, David Giles of San Antonio, Texas and granddaughters, Camille, Grace and Lily.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to CARTI Foundation, P.O. Box 55011, Little Rock, AR 72215 or at https://www.carti.com/foundation/donate-now

So sorry to hear of uncle Jon’s passing. When my sisters, Cathy, Lisa and brother Mark were there in 1974 visiting our dad, Mike Fritch. Uncle Jon and Aunt Teri plugged themselves right into our lives and hearts! He was a wonderful uncle. He felt the need to help me [a kid from the midwest] to be a bit more streetwise.

When we heard of uncle Jon’s passing, my wife Heidi quickly found the Obit and this link. We live in East Tennessee and will have our 40th anniversary this year. Marriage is a gift from God! Or at least should be…. In that case, Uncle Jon and Aunt Teri were obviously Blessed!

As a quick memory, Uncle Jon took me out in the desert and let ME drive his sand buggy, he taught ME how to drive. It was SO COOL…. And so was Uncle Jon, one of the coolest Uncles EVER. If you have an online service, we would love to attend! Gordy and Heidi Fritch
