of Marion, AR
October 22, 1975 - April 14, 2023
Danny Edward Thomas Jr., 47, of Marion, AR passed away at his home, April 14, 2023.
Danny was born October 22, 1975 to Debora and Danny Sr. Danny grew up and lived in Crittenden County. Danny was the oldest of three sons. When he was a boy, if you did not know where he was, he was probably outside playing with friends, brothers and cousins. Danny boasted he dominated his brothers Tim and Jon in sports, but especially basketball. Little Danny inherited his competitive streak from his daddy. Even though he was one-hundred percent pure little boy, Danny had the biggest heart for his mama and that never changed.
Everything changed when Danny met Stephanie Nash. Danny knew he was going to marry Stephanie from the very beginning, at one point just telling her on the phone, "You know we're gonna get married, right?" They were married May 27th, 1994 in Proctor, AR. They could have been torn straight from the page of a romance novel.
The following year, Danny and Stephanie found out they were pregnant, but not just with one baby, twins. Later in the road of the pregnancy, Stephanie found out the twins had a condition and the doctors told her babies most likely wouldn't make it. Danny supported Stephanie through her entire pregnancy. He knew they would be parents no matter what.
October 20, 1995, Caleb Lane and Cody Patrick entered the world. In a time when everything was so unpredictable and uncertain, Danny was there for his sons and his wife. Being the constant rock.
Unfortunately, Cody passed away October 23, 1995. Danny was heartbroken, but he knew he had to be the rock for Stephanie and for Caleb, still a tiny baby, still so unsure about what his life would look like.
Danny knew right then and there what kind of dad he was going to be. Danny was Caleb's real-life Superman. I cannot describe in words the way Danny felt about Caleb, just know he was crazy about his baby boy, even when the baby boy was twenty-four years old and had a full grown beard. Danny chose to spend his life surrounded by the people he cared about most, his family and friends. If you walked into his house, you just knew you were going to be greeted with some big, extravagant feast (if you thought you were only going to get just one plate of food, think again) and be expected to play if not spectate 2-3 games of bags in the backyard.
Danny was the pit master of his Barbecue Team, "Dead Hog Walking", where they won countless competitions for having the best recipes. Countless memories were made along with tons of yummy barbeque. He will also be remembered for the countless meals made in the cook shack at deer camp. Danny loved to hunt and the time spent around the fires at deer camp were some of Danny's favorite times. Danny was always up for a fishing trip or a golf game and Summer in his house was its own holiday. Another one of Danny's many prides was his nieces and nephew. Sarah Beth was her Uncle Danny's hunting buddy. Ava was always his sweet girl. Elizabeth was his little Lizzy. Remi and Waylon loved when their Unk D would come see them and play with them.
Although Danny's life was short, it was so full. He lived life to the max. Danny was his family's glue. We are devastated to live this life without him, but we know he is reunited with so many people that loved him in heaven.
Danny is survived by his wife of almost 29 years, Stephanie; his son, Caleb (Alexandra); his mother, Debora Thomas; brothers, Tim ( Zarah), Jonathan; Nieces, Sarah, Ava, Elizabeth and Remi; Nephew, Waylon, Tina Thomas; as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins that loved him dearly. Danny was reunited in heaven with his grandparents, Man and Louise, Danny Thomas Sr.; his father, Bobby Nash Sr.; Father in law and his son, Cody Thomas. The family also firmly believes Lucy, the family dog, greeted him as he entered heaven.
Danny's celebration of life will be held Tuesday, Apr 18, 2023 at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, Arkansas. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 with the memorial service immediately following.
Honorary pallbearers are Warren Jones, Jonathan Gossett, Phillip Warren, Mark Tacker, Kevin Waller, Ryan Scott, Larry Busby, Ed Brimingham, Glynn Stephens and Scott Beck.
Danny you will be missed, thanks for everything. Keep up the BBQ in heaven
