Avay Jaynes

of North Little Rock, AR

May 9, 1942 - March 28, 2024

One Friday in 1960, Avay Gray graduated high school. Three days later she started her first day as a telephone operator, beginning a 30 year career with AT&T/Southwestern Bell. That year she met John Jaynes who in 1961 would change her last name and her life with three children and two step children and with whom she would spend over 50 years building a great career and a wonderfully happy life.

She loved to laugh, loved to work and loved her family who now hope that they provided for her in the end at least half as well as she provided for them in the beginning, as she succumbed to the effects of multiple myeloma after 11 years.

Her scions are Karen Horton (Tom), Ron Jaynes (Diane), Shannon Cook (Jim), Brian Jaynes & Johnna Feldman (Tracy) and grandchildren, Heidi, Adam, Brandon, Jason, Sarah, Katie, Liz, Arianna, Gabriel, Evan, Lucas, Harper and Everette. Great grandchildren, Tyler, Annabelle, Lucille, Jasper, Harrison, Aeron, Zach, Elliot, Trenton, Maya, Lucea.
