Sylvia Nell Ragland

of Harrison, AR

January 26, 1942 - February 19, 2024

Sylvia Nell (Cole) Ragland passed away on February 19, 2024, in Harrison, Arkansas with family by her side. She was a firm believer in her savior, Jesus Christ, and is enjoying all the benefits of her heavenly home. She was born on January 26, 1942, in St. Joe, Arkansas to Coy Cecil Cole, Sr. and Mary Adelaide (Peterson) Cole.

Many happy stories have been told of her childhood in the St. Joe area and also the Harrison area after they moved to town. Sylvia was a Bellefonte Owl until Valley Springs absorbed the smaller area schools so she graduated in 1959 a proud Valley Springs Tiger. She did play basketball for her future husband, but he had to take her out of play because she kept flirting with the boys in the stands.

She married Sidney Ragland shortly after graduation and they began a journey to gymnasiums across northern Arkansas where they made so many happy memories and made lifelong friends. Their union was blessed with three children, Cynthia Renee Ragland, Sidney Kyle Ragland, and Cheryl Joel Ragland. She loved her family unconditionally and protected them fiercely. Their children gave them five grandchildren, Sara Renee Borland who married Russell Borland, Mary Elizabeth ''Liz'' Cone who married Brandon Cone, Shelby Love Gregory who married Tony Gregory, Kayla Alexandra Ragland and Zachary Cole Ragland. And one great-grandson, Caydin James Cone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Coy Cecil Cole, Jr., or Buddy, as he was known and her husband. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, her sister, Mary Louise Cole Stonecipher; plus nieces and nephews. We will all miss her so much.

Her earthy remains will be cremated and the burial will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 2:00 pm, in Maplewood Cemetery.
