Jean Lowe

of Harrison, AR

Eugenia "Jean" Lowe, age 82, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2024. She was born on December 27, 1941, in Ethel, Mississippi, the daughter of Stuart Gibson Smith, II and Dorothy Eugenia Clifton of Ethel, Mississippi.

She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Harrison, Arkansas. Jean married Bobby Lowe on August 16, 1959, and had her first child the following year. She juggled household tasks and raising a child while working as an assistant to the county clerk. A few years later she began working at Merle Norman to expand her interest in makeup. In October of 1970, the family moved to Arkansas, living briefly in Green Forest and then moving to Harrison. When her youngest went to kindergarten, she began her career in the Harrison Public School District. Jean was a substitute teacher for the following 12 years before transitioning to a library assistant. She stepped away from Harrison Public Schools after her husband was diagnosed with Lewy body disease. Following the death of her husband, she assumed his position as condo association manager for White Oak Condominiums of Harrison.

Jean was passionate about raising the next generation. She taught 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School at First Baptist Church for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking care of them. Jean also had a servant's heart. She never hesitated to help anyone in need. After her husband's death, she also began volunteering at the hospital as a member of the NARMC Auxiliary. She was a friend to many and a blessing to all.

Survivors are a daughter, Cindy Langston and husband, Tom of Harrison; their children, Nicholas and wife, Amber of Oklahoma City, Rebekah and husband, Panos of Dallas and Maggie of Rogers; a son, Mike Lowe and wife, Cindy; their children, Savannah and Stuart of Conway, Arkansas; a son, Steve Lowe and his children, Ainsley, Izzy and Ralee of Springfield, Missouri; and a brother, Stuart Smith. of Lebanon, Tennessee. Also surviving are some nieces, nephews, and cousins.



A memorial service with a visitation to follow was held at Roller Christeson's Funeral Home. Reverend Royce Sweatman officiated.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Harrison, Arkansas, or the Gideons International.
