I just did a Google search today for my long lost second cousin, Russell, hoping I could make contact again. I was so shocked to see that he has passed away. I last talked to him when we were both in sixth grade and his father was a minister in Oklahoma City. I spent many weekends at the Cody home and Russell and I had wonderful times sharing our lives as we cleaned the church next door to their home. The whole family had a profound influence on my life and I share their grief over his loss.

Although I did not know Russ personally, I am a high school classmate of his sister, Carolyn. I have heard much about Russ and I can only imagine what a great guy he was. I know that he'll be watching over his sisters and daughter. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Although we hadn't seen each other in a very long time, I have fond memories of my "professional football player cousin". When I was very young, I got to see Russell play in Dallas. We went to the hotel afterward. I remember just staring as I sat by him...so very proud...I truly thought I was sitting by a celebrity! And he was...in his family's eyes!
Give Aunt Gin and Uncle Chuck a great big hug from me Russell...and we'll all be together in Glory some day...Save my spot!

My sympathies to the Cody family. I was at Russellville High School with Russell. I enjoyed knowing him and always felt he was a good friend. I fondly remember his ability as a Cyclone football player and followed his games with the Razorbacks. I was a member of the church in Russellville when his father became the minister there. I can remember attending Church Camp when Russell was also there. Sorry to hear of his passing.
