Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal-from a headstone in Ireland.

My mother, Bessie Bartlett, and Mrs. Holcomb were friends many years ago. My mom has been gone for 40 years, but I remember Mrs. Holcomb making me clothes when I was in school. We were poor, but mom saw that we always had something to wear and Mrs. Holcomb helped make that possible. Mrs. Holcomb was a great seamstress and a great friend to all my family. I'm really sorry for your loss. Thursday, May 17, 2012 |

Larry and Janie - I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was "granny" to my daughters, Kristen and Erica. The example she set as a Chrisian, has made such a differnence in our lives. Thursday, May 17, 2012 |

Her death really touches me personally. I began playing piano and organ in the Holcombs' church when I was about 13 and Mr. Holcomb was the music director. I spent many practices with Mr. Holcomb. I was around the whole family quite a bit. Mr. Holcomb taught me more about “feeling” music than anybody. It was more than the written page. It came from the heart and soul. Those times have a very special place in my heart and life. Mrs Holcomb was such a loving and down to earth person. Janie and I have grown older, to say the least, and don’t stay in contact . However, from knowing her family, and especially her mother, I think that I can assure Janie that her mom is in Heaven today with her Dad singing with the Angels !!

I have immensely enjoyed our conversations the last few years. She set a gold standard for aging gracefully. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
